Types of fullerenes and their features
Let's talk about the types of fullerenes, their features and labeling.
Have you ever seen such markings on cosmetics? The molecular structure depicted on them is fullerene - the best of antioxidants, a dream ingredient for your skin! (Read more in our fullerene article). Such marking can only be on cosmetics containing fullerene in a certain concentration. It is such cosmetics that fully reveal the magical properties of fullerene and are effective.
So what do fullerene markings mean and how do they differ?
R.S. (Radical Sponge) - The world's first water-soluble fullerene.
L.F. (LipoFullerene) - Fat-soluble fullerene. Obtained by dissolving in vegetable squalane!
V.F. (Veil Fullerene) - Powdery texture allows you to mix it with makeup products. It has an antioxidant effect on the outer surface of the skin and cares for it right during makeup!
M.F. (Moist Fullerene) - This is a fullerene nanocapsule with a very small round shape, easily adaptable to the skin, with deep penetration and moisturizing effect, which help to maintain the effect of cosmetic ingredients for a long time.
S.F. (Sun Guard Fullerene A) - Fullerene for exclusive use in sunscreens.
H.F. (Hair Shiny Fullerene) - Fullerene for hair care. Penetrates the hair, providing an antioxidant effect from the inside. Protects from UV rays.
Let's consider in more detail, similar at first glance, LipoFullerene and Radical Sponge:
The biggest difference between lipofullerene and radical sponge is that lipofullerene is fat soluble while radical sponge is water soluble. Lipofullerene is more compatible with fat than with water, hence the name “lipo”. The radical sponge, (radicalsponge) is compatible with water and was so named after the fullerene structure, which absorbs free radicals like a sponge.
As a result, L.F. often mixed with fat-rich fullerene creams and cosmetic liquids, while R.S. often mixed with a wide range of water- or alcohol-based cosmetics.
For a long time, the superantioxidant fullerene could not be used in cosmetics, since it is absolutely insoluble in water and almost insoluble in oil. Japanese company Vitamin C60 Bioresearch Co., Ltd. for the first time in the world introduced the first water-soluble fullerene R.S. Fullerene was "wrapped" with a water-soluble polymer PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone), only then everything worked out! In 2009, only 4 years later, the first lipofullerene was released.
No matter which type of fullerene you choose, its antioxidant properties are fully manifested in any of the products.
