If all materials have approximately the same properties, then why does the shelf life vary? The answer lies in the expanded composition and storage conditions. So, condoms with flavorings will serve less. 

Both latex, polyurethane, and polyisoprene are afraid of ultraviolet light and sudden temperature changes. If you store them in a dark, dry place, they will retain their properties for 5 years. But in the sun or cold (even in a closed package), condoms lose their density and their ability to stretch.
